About Wajer Yachts
For three decades, the Wajer name has been synonymous with the best boats money can buy. In 1992, Dorus Wajer started building his own launches on the lakes near Amsterdam. The Captain’s Launch, famous for her quality, craftsmanship and iconic lines, embodies the Wajer spirit to this day.
The name Wajer has become a household name in international yacht building. Although they are all built in the Netherlands, our yachts are shipped all over the world. Often as a day boat at holiday homes, but also as a tender for super yachts. As a family business with more than 300 employees, we are very proud of this. We are not only known for our yachts, but also for the unparalleled service we provide to our customers worldwide. Because being the owner of a Wajer means maximum sailing pleasure, “without a worry”.
The Area Manager is responsible for providing and ensuring the ultimate customer experience that garner the highest customer satisfaction scores. They will coordinate the day-to-day operations in their fast-growing service hub from Miami to West Palm Beach. Late last year, they opened 'Wajer Bay Marina', a private marina with 16 berths and an office at a prime location in Miami. There are currently 14 yachts berthed there and that number will increase considerably in the coming years. In the summer months they operate in their hub in The Hamptons.
The Area Manager is the prime point of contact for our customers, local partners and employees of Wajer. They coordinate, facilitate and delegate work to the team and, where necessary, to suppliers or the greater internal Wajer organization. The Area Manager works cross functionally with several different teams (Sales, HR, Engineering) and ensures strong collaboration to exceed customer demands. You actively build our fast-growing activities and the associated organization.
They will monitor the quality and manage the operational activities in such a way that the objectives of the 'Wajer Without Worry' concept are achieved and the customer can enjoy an optimal sailing experience during the busiest period of the season. The Area Manager ensures the accurate registration of all hub activities to enable central billing and achieve performance targets and budgeted margins.
- Alongside the Operations Manager, serve as the point of contact for customers during both the summer and winter seasons.
- Support the sales team in giving demos to boost sales.
- Responsible for the financial results (budget/margin) of the hub.
- Organize transport and housing for our employees.
- Create uniform procedures and promote a Wajer Way of Working.
- Overall professionalization of activities, processes, debtor management and policy
Education, Experience and Skills Required
An experienced manager of people with a high drive for quality, flexibility and adaptability to different situations. Customer-oriented with the right leadership qualities to monitor, coach and motivate the team. The ideal candidate has a high energy level and enthusiasm that can take decisive action. Able to shape a young, fast-growing organization in the US.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, hotel management or commerce.
- At least 5 years of work experience in a managerial role within luxury yacht building or hospitality industry.
- A Boating License or a willingness to obtain one. It is advantageous if you have previous sailing experience (at sea).
- The ability to continuously improve processes, guidelines and policies.
- You are an official resident of the United States.
