Job description

About Wajer

Wajer Yachts is a Dutch family business operating in an international arena. Although we are located in various parts of the world, our locations in Heeg and Lemmer (Friesland) are the beating heart of our company. Here, a team of approximately 300 colleagues works on the development, design, construction, and testing of around 60-70 yachts per year. Our sales and marketing team operates from a beautiful office in Amsterdam. During the summer, our team expands with about 80 employees at our international service hubs.

From these international service hubs (including South France, Ibiza, Mallorca, and Miami), we offer our clients unparalleled service through our Care program. Owning a Wajer means maximum boating pleasure, “without a worry.” Three simple words that form the foundation of our business operations. During the busy sailing season, our technical team ensures that the Wajers are always in excellent technical condition. Additionally, our captains and deckhands are responsible for cleaning, refueling, stocking refrigerators, covering the boats, and planning sailing trips.

What will you be doing?

As a Service Engineer, you will be part of Wajer’s Technical Care team. These teams are spread across our service hubs in South France (from Cannes to Saint-Tropez) and Spain (Ibiza, Mallorca, and the mainland). Each team consists of a Service Manager, foremen, and technicians. In addition to these colleagues, you will work closely with the Care Operations teams, who ensure an unforgettable sailing experience for our clients every day. In this role, you will have the important responsibility, together with your colleagues, of ensuring that all Wajers in your service hub are and remain in top technical condition every day. You take pride in satisfied owners who can fully enjoy their Wajer thanks to your efforts.

Some of your tasks include:

  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues in mechanical, electrical, and software-controlled installations.
  • Repairing and replacing parts, installations, or systems, including propulsion, steering, HVAC, navigation, piping, and specific technical ship systems. Functionally testing and commissioning these tasks.
  • Assessing and diagnosing technical tasks and performing maintenance on the yachts.
  • Cleaning and maintaining machines and tools.
  • Performing small administrative tasks, such as logging hours and tasks in the Wajer app.

Job requirements

What do you bring?

You are highly customer-oriented, organized, and strong in your approach. You have high energy levels, are enthusiastic, and manage to stay sharp even during the dynamic peak season. Your work experience has made you independent, and you quickly adapt to changing environments. You have strong communication skills and are a true team player, making it easy for you to live and work with your colleagues.

Additionally:

  • A completed vocational education (MBO level 3 or 4) in a technical field
  • Experience as a technician in yacht building or automotive is a plus
  • Strong technical insight, which you may have developed through your hobbies
  • Willingness to travel for multiple days for technical jobs outside your own service hub in Spain
  • Good command of Dutch and English
  • Possession of a category B driver's license

In this role, you will mainly work in Spain. During the winter months, you will alternate between working in the Netherlands, France, and Spain. In consultation with your manager, a yearly schedule will be created so you’ll know exactly when you’ll be home. We can also consider important family events.

What can you expect?

An ambitious, rapidly growing, and increasingly international organization, all with the personal and warm touch of a family business. Wajer’s success is felt by everyone, and we are a true A-player in our industry. You will work in a young and professional team that delivers top performance for our clients every day. This results in a very positive atmosphere within the organization and offers opportunities to invest in your future and career. You will have the chance to continuously develop yourself and the freedom to improve processes.

Of course, you will also receive excellent employment conditions, including a competitive salary based on your experience, facilitated housing on location, a good pension plan through PME, and the opportunity to obtain your boating licenses 1 and 2. Additionally, Wajer Yachts falls under the Metalektro Collective Labor Agreement, which provides a solid foundation for your employment conditions. Every workweek, we end with a fun Friday afternoon get-together.

Welcome to Wajer Yachts, where working is more than just a job!
