Job description

General

Wajer Yachts is a Dutch family-owned business with an international field of activity. Although we are located in different places in the world, our yards in the Netherlands are the beating heart of our company. Here, a team of approximately 300 colleagues works on the development, design, construction and testing of around 60-70 yachts per year. About 80-100 service and refit projects are also being realized here.

From our service hubs (South of France, Ibiza, Mallorca, Miami & The Hamptons) we offer our customers an unparalleled service with our Care program. Being the owner of a Wajer means maximum sailing pleasure, "without a worry". Three simple words that form the foundation of our business. Our technical team ensures that the Wajers are always in good technical condition during the busy sailing season. In addition, our captains & deckhands are responsible for sailing, cleaning, refueling up to the planning of sailing trips.

What are you going to do?

Working aboard one of our Wajer 77's! Alongside a Stew, you are fully responsible for the operations and management of the Wajer 77 assigned to you. You are ultimately accountable for the yacht and the safety of the customers/guests on board. Your aim is to ensure their complete satisfaction and enjoyment of the ultimate sailing experience.

This involves the following tasks:

  • Operating the yacht and performing relevant technical tasks
  • Ensuring the minimum boat inventory is in order and maintaining it, including operational and safety equipment
  • Managing the procurement and stock of food supplies for trips
  • Conducting (visual) technical checks
  • Creating and preparing sailing plans and (day/week) trips, always in consultation with the customer and based on weather forecasts
  • Assisting owners, guests, and passengers on board and ensuring their needs are met
  • Cleaning and maintaining the yacht, toys, and onboard equipment, with or without the assistance of a stew/deckhand
  • Keeping track of work administration, technical issues, and other data via the Wajer App
  • Supervising and guiding the Stew

Job requirements

What are your assets?

As a Captain 77, you work and live aboard the Wajer 77. This means sleeping on board, in a separate crew cabin, often alongside the Stew. You are literally close to the customer, so excellent communication skills and a social understanding are crucial. You can intuitively sense what the customer needs and know when to step back. You are not one to sit idle and understand that there is always work to be done. You are comfortable with extended periods away from home.

In addition to a profound passion for boats and water sports, we are looking for candidates with a strong sense of responsibility. You understand the significance of sailing with a luxury yacht with guests, being ultimately responsible for onboard safety. You prioritize quality and efficiency in your work and never leave anything to chance. Additionally, you are highly service-oriented and consistently exceed customer expectations.

Additionally, you have:

  • At least a completed vocational or higher education
  • Minimum of a Yachtmaster or 200 GT license
  • Full-time availability, immediately
  • Sailing experience in the Mediterranean
  • Willingness to work mostly from home ports in Spain or France for the majority of the year
  • Good command of the English language. Dutch, Spanish, French, or German is a plus
  • Driver's license

Due to the prolonged application procedures for work and residency permits in France and Spain, we are specifically looking for candidates from the EU for the 2024 season.

What can you expect?

An ambitious, rapidly growing, and increasingly international organization, all with the personal and warm touch of a family business. Wajer's success is palpable to everyone, and we are a true industry leader. You will work in a young and professional team that delivers top performance for our customers every day. This creates an incredibly positive atmosphere within the organization and opportunities to invest in the future and your career. You will have the opportunity for continuous self-improvement and the freedom to improve processes.
