Innovation Engineer

"The rule is that I am only allowed to work on new things."

After studying Marine Technology in Leeuwarden, I began working as an engineer at Wajer. I work at the shipyard in Lemmer, where our latest model, the Wajer 77, is built. I find it to be an incredibly interesting product because there is a lot of room for innovation, and I am deeply involved in it. I focus on innovative projects within Wajer. The rule is that I am only allowed to work on new things, which is truly a dream job. And because the boats are actually made at the shipyard, you can see the results of your work directly. That makes it really enjoyable!

Tjerk Demmer

Project Engineer

"Collaborating to find solutions for the client and seeing the final result on the shop floor makes my work very enjoyable!"

I have been working as a Project Engineer at Wajer for almost 2 years at the shipyard in Heeg. My primary goal is to ensure the smooth operation of the production line for the Wajer 55 models. I draft and prepare special requests from clients for production. I act as a liaison between sales and production, guiding this process in the workshop as needed. I regularly consult with production colleagues to see if client requests can be realized and to determine how we will execute them. Since I am very practical, I like to observe in the workshop to see how things look and assess what is possible. So, I don’t spend the entire day behind a computer but am also often found in the workshop. I feel proud when I see the collective final result on the shop floor!
